Southeast Louisiana Rail Committee

The Southeast Louisiana Rail Committee was established in the summer of 1998 to comprehensively evaluate railroad projects and to develop a strategic policy for dealing with rail issues in the New Orleans region.

The committee includes over eighty members representing a broad spectrum of organizations and individuals with rail interests.

The committee is organized into four subcommittees: Freight Rail, High Speed Rail, Inter-city Rail (Baton Rouge to New Orleans) and Intra-city Rail (New Orleans central business district to the Louis Armstrong New Oreans International Airport). Each subcommittee is charged with identifying project priorities. The committee as a whole then merges the individual projects into a regional rail program incorporating broad goals and a vision for the metro area.
